Safety In The Kitchen

  • Practice good hygiene: Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling food.

  • Be aware of hot surfaces: Avoid hot stovetops and always use oven mitts when handling hot pots, pans, and baking sheets.

  • Keep work area clean: Proper cleaning helps destroy bacteria that can contaminate food and make it unsafe to eat.

  • Tie back long hair: No one wants to find a hair in their delicious dessert!

  • Clean up spills immediately: Wet floors are a safety hazard that can cause slips and falls.

  • Keep appliances dry: Never use electrical appliances near water as this can cause electrocution.

  • Have a fire safety plan: Always keep a fire extinguisher within reach and know how to properly use it.

  • Separate raw food from cooked food: Most of the time raw food is bad to eat plain and it can contaminate the cooked food if touched.
